Bank Holiday sunshine

Yesterday was the Spring Bank Holiday in England and it was also declared a heatwave. We got highs of 33°C in my local town in Greater Manchester. Today we're forecast similar weather and, as I write this, my dog is happily snoozing on the sofa next to me after his morning walk. We were at his favourite local spot for 5:30am and it was 16°C. If it was any lower last night, we didn't feel it. The fan was blasting and the windows were open in a futile attempt to circulate some cool air.

The fact us Brits talk about the weather so much may seem odd, but despite our mild climate, especially compared to other countries, it has an almost unpredictable nature. The weather forecast is often best checked regularly and taken with a large pinch of salt. Two weeks ago we had to put the heating back on for a couple of days. Just last week, we got caught out in a hailstorm. One day this month, we oscillated through pelting rain from grey clouds to sunshine and clear blue skies seemingly every 10 minutes.

Luckily, I have booked the week off work so at least I get to "chill out". A rather large project of mine is getting released today, so I've got some nervous energy and will probably keep checking the Teams chats just to see if it goes smoothly. I'd hoped it would've been sorted beforehand, but I've been so burnt out I didn't want to cancel my time off just to see it through. With the weather how it is, I'm rather glad at how it's worked out. It's now 20°C at 7:30am. Is it too early for a siesta?
